Girls Engineering Day 2020

Girls' Engineering Day is an event to introduce middle school and high schools girls to a variety of careers in the transportation industry. 

 

WTS-Orange County's Transportation YOU Committee presented the sixth annual Girls' Engineering Day at South Junior High School on Saturday, Feb. 22, in partnership with the Anaheim Union High School District.

 

The program educates girls in grades 7-12 about various aspects of the transportation industry, including structural engineering, surveying, geotechnical engineering, environmental planning and highway/traffic engineering. The event was well attended with 140 participating students and more than 100 volunteers representing more than 40 industry firms.

 

Notable speakers included Margaret Novak, WTS-OC President, staff from Senator Ling Ling Chang's office, and U.S. Congressman Lou Correa.
